WOWZERS!  There is no other word to describe the first week of the shop, than “Wowzers”!!  The response and support has been incredible!  I’m not gonna lie, I really didn’t expect many people to come in yet; I thought the numbers might have increased once the workshops got up and running, but oh no…you saw a new fabric shop appear like an oasis in the desert and there was no stopping you!

Speaking of the workshops, fear not!  I am currently in the process of putting them together and deciding on dates and times and then I’ll be advertising them.  I’ll just be starting with a few to begin with as we don’t want to run before we can walk, do we?!  More than likely these will be an uber-beginner one for people who have nada, zilch, zero sewing experience, a beginners’ dressmaking course and hopefully a patchwork course.  Once they’re underway, I’ll then introduce some which are a bit more advanced, which will hopefully include an overlocker one, given that about 50,000 of you seem to have acquired one recently and has seemingly put the fear of God into you!

Over the next couple of weeks I’ll also be launching my online shop!  Yay!  My brother, Joel, is a website designer and has been working tirelessly these past few months trying to decipher my many, many, many design thoughts into something presentable.  If all goes to plan, the website will have a few little features which might come in handy!

While we’re here, some of you who come into the shop on Tuesdays will become familiar with Joel because as well as “Website Extraordinaire”  he will also be the Special Guest Shopkeeper on Tuesdays from hereon in.  If you remember, I also have another business in Leeds and as much as I would like to surround myself with fabric on Tuesdays rather than sheet metal and fans, I can’t I’m afraid so Joel will be taking the helm.  Don’t worry – if you have any problems or need help with anything, he has been firmly instructed to ring me at any time!  He is a quietly spoken young fellow, so please be gentle with him ladies, however he is very helpful so you should be OK with him!

This week I’m meeting with a new fabric supplier who is the distributor for Riley Blake and Michael Miller fabrics (which should be names that you patchwork lovers are familar with) and I’m also looking into stocking some Amy Butler and Kaffe Fassett fabrics, fat quarters and charm packs AND there’s a brand new Tilly and the Buttons out this week which I’ll have in towards the end of the week, so make sure you’re one of the first to get it!  I can’t say much about it because my lips are sealed, but it looks a cracker! Very exciting!

Stay tuned for the workshop announcements, or better still make sure to sign up to the mailing list on this website so you’ll be the first to hear about them!

Happy Sewing!
