How We Are Reopening Safely During the COVID-19 Pandemic...

Following the lockdown for the COVID-19 pandemic, the UK government has given us the go ahead to start reopening from 15th June (yay!) however, let's not go crazy...we don't want to get ahead of ourselves, do we!! My priority is to keep everyone safe. You, me, everyone, so we're having to make some changes in how we run things, but hopefully you will find your whole shopping experience a pleasurable one!

Due to the size of the shop, how everything is set up and how we operate in general, it wouldn't be wise for us to attempt to have more than one customer in the shop at the same time.

I know how long some of you like to spend in the shop, making sure you get round everything, asking for advice etc. so I don't want you to feel rushed, which I think you would if there was a queue outside and a "one in, one out" system.

Therefore the best way forward for everyone is for us to be "By Appointment Only". I know, who do I think I am? Some kind of low-rent, Yorkshire version of Coco Chanel?! Well yes, I bloomin' do!

By Appointment Only: No queues, no rush, no stress!

Fabric buying cannot be rushed!

Appointments will be 45 minutes long, with 15 minutes in between, which gives us a chance to wipe around everything with antibacterial wipes between appointments.

Appointments are strictly for ONE PERSON ONLY. At this time, we are unable to accommodate children, partners etc. If you require someone to attend with you, e.g. a carer, please contact us before making your appointment.

Making an appointment

Appointments can only be made through the online booking system on our website. Please do not message on social media to make an appointment.

To avoid frustration, please do not book an appointment if you are looking for sewing or dressmaking services such as alterations or repairs as we do not offer these. There are several options nearby that will be able to help:

Upon arrival

I know how much you love to touch the fabrics and how much you've missed it. For the safety of everyone, we will insist you use the hand sanitiser provided prior to being able to touch any products on sale in the shop. Our new motto is "No Squirty, No Touchy!"

During your appointment

  • You will have my undivided attention! Use me for advice, fabric recommendations for a pattern, anything you want to know.
  • Drinks will also be available for while you peruse; we all know fabric shopping is thirsty work!
  • Payment will be taken by card, contactless or exact change only.

Habby Hour: for those who "only need a bobbin of cotton"

Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about you! Sometimes making a 45 minute appointment would be just plain ridiculous (I know some of you can talk for a good hour whilst buying a spool of thread, but even so...!)

Therefore, for buying any bits of haberdashery you'll be nipping in and out for, every day we will have "Habby Hour"!

How Habby Hour will work

Habby Hour will be at the following times:

Wednesday: 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Friday: 1:00pm - 2:00pm
Saturday: 1:00pm - 2:00pm

During these times, you will be able to buy "off the shelf" items only. No fabric will be cut to order during this time, however you will be able to buy bias binding, ribbon etc. by the metre.

This will operate strictly on a "one in, one out" system so we do ask that you keep your time in the shop to an absolute minimum. At this time, we are unable to accommodate children, partners etc. If you require someone to attend with you, e.g. a carer, please contact us before coming.

Again, we will insist you use the hand sanitiser provided prior to being able to touch any products on sale in the shop. "No Squirty, No Touchy"!

Payment will be taken by card, contactless or exact change only.

Click and Collect is returning!

If neither of these options float your boat you can place your order online to Click and Collect, which is now easier to do than ever.

If you haven't used this service before, you just need to order your items online as normal and select the pickup option at the checkout stage.

Allocated collection time

One change we'll have to make is to arrange and allocate a dedicated timeslot when you can come to collect your order. So we can prevent congested areas, please do not come at a different time to the one allocated to you.

For those unable to visit the shop:

We realise that some of you will still be self-isolating/shielding for the foreseeable so don't worry, we're keeping our minimum order for Free UK Delivery at £5 for the foreseeable future, so don't risk yourself for the sake of some thread!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
